Description: Under new management during the 2007 golf season, a dedication to restoring the original beauty seems overly apparent with tremendous updates being done to all three courses, but mainly Spruce. Middle Island Country Club offers three, nine hole golf courses that can be played in any combination. Each course is regulation length and offers a variety of challenges.

The newly renovated Spruce Course was the highlight of 2008! With an added island green on the 393 Yard, Par 4 #7 and more tee boxes to accommodate women, seniors, and championship play, this course promises to delight players of all levels. Its generous fairways and large greens leave room for error and you can “grip it and rip it” off the tee. The Dogwood Course has narrow fairways and presents challenges for any shots that wander. Get to the green and be careful because these greens present the most challenge of the three courses with many subtle breaks that leave a player wondering why it “just missed.”  Strategy and course knowledge will serve the average handicapper quite well as you take on the Oak Course. Almost all the holes have a dogleg or two that make the Oak Course play longer that the yardage indicates. All three courses have received a much needed facelift for greater playability and added fairness for the shots that deserve to find a nice spot in the middle of the fairway or next to the hole.

Signature Hole: #7 on Spruce Course.  A beautiful Par 4.  This renovated hole, now with a spectacular island green takes this nine to another level, both aesthetically and challenging.  Your second shot here demands the correct distance and accuracy, playing to a small, undulating green, with little to no bailout area...par is a great score here.

Comments: The new owners are committed to bringing this ‘gem’ back to life.  It definitely has the potential to be one of the premier facilities in the northeast. Unlike some of the newer facilities that are crammed onto smaller properties, with some holes literally playing on top of one another, this facility (built on over 225 acres) offers space and solitude, and since the property was once the renowned Lustgarten Nursery, a wide variety of exotic shrubbery covers the acreage...it’s a real pleasure to be out on this course.  Three great nine’s when played from the tips offer one of the more challenging “tests” on Long Island.  Great golf at a fair price...one of the best golf values in the Metro Area.  This facility also features some of the more memorable golf holes on Long Island.  Challenging, yet fun and enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels.  A ‘must play’ for all serious Metro Area golfers.
