Description: The members of this semi-private club, as well as the Town of Bellport which operates the club, like to cite Seth Raynor as the architect of note on this nice piece of property in Suffolk County. If Raynor did build Bellport in 1899, then it predates his work with C.B. MacDonald on National Golf Links, The golf course itself, which is still relatively short compared to today's standards, borders on the Great South Bay and offers many panoramic views of the water. With a bit of feel for the old-style of course design, it's a fun track that can be quirky but enjoyable. Readers Comments: A real pleasure with some great views of the water ... I really love being a member, as everyone is so nice and the golf course is fun and normally plays pretty fast ... As a resident, it feels like our own private course, which it kind of is.
Directions: Distance from Manhattan approximately 61 miles. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS COURSE? |
