Golf Club at Middle Bay - Public 18-HOLE COURSE
This was the Middle Bay Country Club, a private facility, that was severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy. It is no longer private, it is now open for public play. Amenities:
Practice Chipping Area: Yes, for instruction only Clubhouse: under construction Halfway House: on course at the turn GOLF COURSE
Description: The terrain is relatively flat which is typical of the seaside courses on the south shore of Long Island. However, golfers have to contend with the serious challenge of wind and water on eight picturesque holes. In 1988, David Postelwait added mounds and sand traps to give the course a more modern look and also increase its level of difficulty. Signature Hole: is the beautiful 8th hole, a short par four that curves left around the bay that gives the course its name. The left side of the fairway is flanked by a long waste bunker at waters edge, while the right side is lined with mounds and bunkers. The putting green is closely guarded by five additional bunkers… two long sand traps across the front and three smaller ones at the sides.
