Dyker Beach Golf Course - Public 18-HOLE COURSE
Pro: Jeff Defranco, PGA
Amenities:
Practice Putting Green: Yes GOLF COURSE
Description: Originially opened in the late 1890's as Dyker Meadow Golf Club -- needless to say Brooklyn was a lot different place back then -- this course evolved over the years and was eventually bought by the city and redesigned in the 1930's by Jon Van Kleek. The same architect that built Pelham/Split Rock in the Bronx, Van Kleek's design is open and forgiving, making it the perfect track for the beginner and mid- to high-handicapper.
Signature Hole: No. 11, 201-yard Par 3. Playing downhill, this longish par-3 is noted for some extremely difficult pin-placements due to the unique design of the green. Reader Comments: Pace of play can be impossible at times ... Conditions vary dramatically, one good year, one bad year.
