GOLF COURSE

Description: This course, situated on the Long Island Sound, is built on the rolling terrain that used to be one of the Gold Coast’s great estates.  Without question, it is one of the more scenic and picturesque executive courses anywhere.  And, despite its length, can at times present quite a challenge to both the intermediate and low-handicap golfer.

The layout does offer a handful of doglegs, as well as water on six of the 18 holes.  Most fairways are tight and tree-lined, and often wind comes off the Sound and is a factor.

Signature Hole: No. 2. 395-yard Par 4.  From the tee of one of the toughest holes on the course, there is a spectacular view of Connecticut across the Sound.  Water runs along the entire left side of fairway, and helps shape the hole's slight turn to the left.  The approach shot is to a small, undulating green with a bunker in the front-left. 

Reader Comments: Plays much longer and harder than you might initially think ... Always kept in good shape ... Greens fast and tricky ... Wind can make this one difficult outing ... Beautiful views and a nice walk.

Directions: Distance from Manhattan approximately 30  miles.
LIE East to Exit 39 North, (Glen Cove Rd.),  Follow for approximately 6 miles to fork in road and bear left (Rte. 107) and continue to end, Forest Ave. (go right).  Stay on Forest Ave. for 4 traffic lights to Dosoris Lane (go left).  Take Dosoris to end, Lattingtown Rd. (go right) 1/2 mile to course on left.
