GOLF COURSE

Description: This challenging, tree-lined course is very similiar to a lot of Joe Lee's work in Florida, with a bunch of white sand bunkers and big, interesting green shapes.  Ten of the 18 holes include water hazards, which add to the nice surroundings and the degree of difficulty, which for the yardage, is can be pretty tough. 

The course demands accuracy off the tee and also on most approach shots.  It offers a good mix of holes with some of the best, most memorable and difficult par-3s on Long Island.  Although there are quite a few houses on top of the golf course, it's overall an enjoyable track for all skill levels.

Signature Hole: No. 7, 338-yard Par-4.  The narrow fairway is lined on both sides with water, making for a tough drive on what is, essentially, a peninsula fairway.  If your tee shot is well played, your second shot is a delicate pitch shot to a well bunkered green.   

Reader Comments: So much development around the course, you sometimes feel as though you’re playing in someone’s backyard...this is not the course it once was (before all the condos were built)/  Course is nicely maintained ... in today's environment this is a bit over priced, there are a number of better golf courses priced more reasonably within 5 miles of this facility.  It used to be very well maintained but it does seem that they are cutting back on maintenance...it appears that the difficult economy is having it's effect (not positive) on this facility. 

Directions: Distance from Manhattan approximately 48 miles.
LIE (east) to Exit 57.  Go left at 1st light (Motor Pkwy.) and proceed for approximately 1 mile to club on left.  Next to the Hyatt Regency at WindWatch Hotel.
