Marine Park Golf Course - Public 18-HOLE COURSE
Pro: Evan Silkworth, PGA
Amenities: GOLF COURSE Re-designed: Stephen Kay
Description: Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Marine Park is changing the way we think about public golf. The course is undergoing a significant redesign under the leadership of Michael and Adam Giordano and course architect Stephen Kay. Adding tall berms and fescue to the natural rolling landscape, the course has more visual impact and separation between holes. When combined with putting greens long heralded as the best in the city, golfers of all skill level enjoy their day on the links. Signature Hole: No. 5, 181-yard Par 3. The recently renovated par three encircles the green with new mounding long and to the right, with bunkers on the front and left. With the city skyline as the backdrop, this tee box may be the prettiest piece of real estate in all of Brooklyn. As the shortest par 3 on the course, this hole packs plenty of challenge along with a beautiful setting. Reader Comments: Great course for beginners, wide open and very forgiving. When the wind is blowing, it's tough. Kind of long. The greens are the best anywhere in NYC. There have been some major changes in recent years, including a large driving range and some course alterations. With the new management team beginning to take a pace-of-play risk by growing fescue grass, there is a chance that from this treeless expanse a real links-style course can emerge.
