18-HOLE COURSE

Built: 1929     
Architect: Tom Winton

Description: A relatively short but challenging course for every type of golfer (beginner to low-handicapper).  Narrow, tree-lined fairways lead to small, postage stamp sized greens.  Since the layout is alongside a large reservoir, water comes into play on a number of the holes, making for a most interesting golf outing.  

Signature Hole: #15.  A fine 420 yard, par 4, that will test the skills of the best of players.  Tee shot must be played to left side of fairway, trouble along right side.  2nd shot must carry a creek that crosses fairway at about the 340 yard mark and onto green that is trapped on the left and woods on the right.  

Comments: although short, it requires accuracy and a nice touch with your irons to score well...scenic and fun but can use a little more tender loving care.

Directions: Distance from Manhattan approximately 16 miles.
Major Deegan Expwy. (north) to Sprain Brook Pkwy. (north) to  Jackson Ave. Exit.  Go right (east), at traffic light and proceed to E. Grassy Sprain Rd. (go right) and follow to course on right.
