Description: This course plays significantly longer than its 6558 yards. Hilly, with blind holes, doglegs and pinching trees, accuracy is at a premuim here. The tee shots are not always easy to find a good line, and if you miss slightly, you might end up deep in the trees. On most holes, you also need a good amount of carry to find yourself in a decent position for your second shot into the green. The putting surfaces are generally small, and somewhat well-bunkered. Wind can also be a factor, especially in spring and fall. The course as a whole is generally well manicured for a county course, and the greens are probably the fastest for a public course in the area. Signature Hole: No. 4, 442-yard Par 4. A longish par-4, a good, long and straight drive is needed for a level lie in the fairway. From there, the second shot must carry to an elevated green, the three bunkers surrounding. Tough to get your second hole high. Reader Comments: Bring all your clubs, you’ll use each and every one of them. Because of the rolling, hilly terrain you’ll rarely have a flat lie. A wonderful layout, nice variety, never boring. Always well kept. A terrific outing for intermediate and low-handicappers. Recent renovations to all the tee boxes and several greens have made the facility even more enjoyable. As far as we're concerned it's the best public course in Westchester.
Directions: Distance from Manhattan approximately 44 miles. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS COURSE? |
